CHOCOLATES VALOR – ELECTRICAL RENOVATION – VALOR CHOCOLATES

Situation

Sapal carried out an electrical renovation, both hardware and software, of the entire distribution system AA-06 no. 10954.

The benefits of such an upgrade are:

  • Bringing the equipment up to the latest available technology

  • Increasing the equipment’s lifespan

  • Securing the machine’s productivity through component availability

The scope of supply included:

  • 1 new fully pre-assembled electrical cabinet replacing the 4 existing cabinets

  • Installation of new remote Ethernet nodes in the existing main and secondary electrical cabinets

  • New servo motors (Rockwell) with new brackets and cables (signal + power)

  • Replacement of all SICK photoelectric cells throughout the distribution system, along with their supports

  • Pre-assembly and pre-wiring

  • Design of a new program

  • Update of internal documentation and electrical diagrams

What happened

In February 2020, Sapal installed the hardware elements to modernize the distribution system, which was purchased 31 years ago.

Unfortunately, at that time, the Covid-19 pandemic interrupted the work, and our engineers had to return to Switzerland while much remained to be done to make the distribution system operational.
In reality, the software programming and testing had to be done remotely.

Specifically, a Sapal employee coached the client to finalize the wiring through Q&A sessions and electrical diagrams.

We established a full-time person dedicated to remote assistance (phone & videoconference) for the software part, including:

  • Program installation

  • Input/output verification

  • Testing and parameter setup of the different stations without products

  • Testing and parameter setup of the different stations with products

  • Production simulation

  • Validation of the proper functioning of the distribution system

  • Being available if needed

Thanks to very good collaboration between the highly skilled teams of Valor Chocolates and our specialists, we were able to restart production after just a few days.
